Kemibrug V2
A New and Modernized Platform on the Way
We have initiated the development of a new Kemibrug application to modernize the system and address needs that the current solution cannot meet. With Kemibrug V2, we are ensuring a flexible platform that can adapt to changing requirements and regulations.
FAQ
Why Are We Creating a New Kemibrug?
Kemibrug users have expressed a growing demand for functionalities that are not available in the current version. One key request is for the supporting material for local risk assessments to bring users closer to completing a risk assessment than KBA currently does. Additionally, users want better integration between Kemibrug and other applications, such as procurement systems, occupational health and safety management systems, laboratory manuals, and label printers. The current Kemibrug is not designed for this type of integration, which is why we are developing a new version.
What Searches Can Be Performed in KemibrugV2?
As a starting point, you will still be able to search for the same things as in the current version. A thorough user process will determine whether any search criteria can be removed to create a more user-friendly interface. At the same time, there have been requests for new search options, such as searches for problematic substances. These will also be considered during the user process. Once the final search functionalities have been determined, this post will be updated. If you have any suggestions for search options, you can send your ideas to kemibrugv2@dtu.dk.
How Will Users Log Into the New Kemibrug?
If you log in via WAYF single sign-on, there will be no changes, and you can continue using your organization’s login. If you currently use our guest-DTU solution, you will need to learn a new login method. We will provide clear instructions and support to ensure a smooth transition.
What Features Will KemibrugV2 Have?
KemibrugV2 is a modernization of the current version and will therefore support the same functions. It will still include an inventory list, CLP calculator, label designer, chemical instructions, and document sharing. Additionally, a risk assessment module will be introduced. We do not yet know the exact structure of this module, but a thorough user process will be conducted to ensure it is user-friendly and efficient.
Will Physical-Chemical Data Still Be Available in Kemibrug?
Yes, KemibrugV2 will continue to include physical-chemical data. The focus will be on the necessary information required for the CLP calculator, chemical instructions, and risk assessments. A user process will determine which physical-chemical data should be supported by Kemibrug and which data you will need to retrieve from your own SDS.
What Will Happen to the Data Entered in the Current Kemibrug?
We will make every effort to clean up and retain as much of the existing data as possible. Our goal is to convert inventory information, such as quantities, responsible persons, storage locations, links, and files. Uploaded files will also be transferred. We will find a suitable solution for notes.
Chemical data will work differently, and we will collaborate with users to determine how to handle this. If any data is set for deletion, you will have the option to locally decide whether to overwrite your entries with information from other sources, such as SDS or chemical databases. If there are local registrations with a CAS number, we will notify you if Kemibrug has chemical data registered for that specific substance.
Purpose
The project aims to create a more efficient, secure, and user-friendly system for managing chemicals at universities. This will enhance workflows, ensure compliance with regulations, and support sustainable resource management.
Project Phases
The Kemibrug V2 project will be carried out in multiple phases, including analysis, design and development, implementation, and evaluation. Each phase will be planned and executed with a focus on meeting the project’s goals and requirements.
Benefits
The implementation of Kemibrug V2 is expected to increase productivity, improve safety, and create a more streamlined laboratory environment at universities. Additionally, it will simplify administration and contribute to a more efficient use of resources.
